It’s summer, you’ve traded the Dubai heat for a quaint café somewhere in Monte Carlo and now you’re looking for inspiration on Instagram. Fear not! The MOD Blog is here to save you. We’ve compiled five Instagram accounts to obsess over for those that love florals, haute-cakes, vintage accessories, table settings, and earthy home décor. If all that sounds right up your alley, let’s dive right in.
You may have seen their exceptionally edgy yet tasteful setups pop across your Instagram, but what is it about their work (and Instagram) that truly makes them worth the follow? Founded by husband-and-wife duo Artem and Galina Petrov, this unique award-winning design studio merges emotionally evocative experiences, installations, and setups utilizing a language of colour and technique that is truly individualistic and non-derivative. Scrolling through the imagery on their account is like a walk in the garden—if the garden were a conceptual symphony of painterly ideas. | Image from Art Petrov via Instagram
Ohhh, when we tell you that this account had us thrifting you don’t know the half of it! At a time when several renowned brands are being exposed for their outsourcing of production to avoid fair wages and labour laws, heritage brands like Jaipur Rugs deserve your admiration and business. What was started in 1978 by Nand Kishore Chaudhary with only Rs.5000 (AED 215.00) as a carpet business has blossomed into a brand that boasts a plethora of design awards, stores across five Indian states and one in the US, as well as universal shipping to over 60 countries. Their Instagram evokes feelings of a bygone era; think terracotta roofs and summers spent outdoors with an ice-cool sherbet, breakfast with the family in the garden, and an organic, slow approach to living. | Image from Jaipur Rugs via Instagram
We challenge you to read these words and not feel anything: chocolate chip cinnamon cake, strawberry jam, vanilla bean custard, torched vanilla bean buttercream. If the aforementioned words had you running for a sugar-fix or in deep depression about your self-imposed no-sugar rule like this unfortunate writer—well, there you have it. Isn’t art or things that are extraordinary supposed to incite a powerful emotion from the observer? Nazli & Co’s cakes are something of a cross between fantasy drawings and memories of your grandma’s recipes that you can never quite get enough of. From blossoms and swirls to fruit and pastel shades, this poetic cake brand has won our hearts and has us desperately wishing she were in Dubai, for a MOD wedding. Oh, and the Instagram? FANTASTICALLY-DELICIOUS. | Image from Nazli & Co via Instagram
If you’ve ever watched The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, or are familiar with the Chronicles of Narnia, or simply tumbled into your Great Grandma’s treasure trove of antiques, clothing, and homeware—well then, Lucia Zolea is just for you. Putting the V in Vintage, this unique little store puts as much attention into its curation of poetically captured imagery as it does on sourcing the subject matter. Delicate diamante-Prada sandals from bygone seasons, fringed belts, seashell bags, pill boxes, shift dresses, and more. However, the truly mesmeric component of this particular brand is its soft and organic approach to the items it showcases. In a time when far too many accounts sell you an over-polished and artificially veneered version of what you think you should have, Lucia Zolea says: “Dearest Observer, welcome to our home, may you find herein an item that stirs your heart and speaks to your soul.” And that’s precisely why we could browse the page for hours. | Image from Lucia Zolea via Instagram
We came across this exceptional artist from a singular video that’s been making the rounds on our wedding-obsessed team’s Instagrams – yes, we were referring to the one with the bulbous purple blooms juxtaposed against the pearlescent silver of the perfect tablescape plating. Something about Mr. Gilony’s work draws the eye, and once you’re in, we doubt you’ll want to step out. From redefining immersive experiences across food, scents, and objects, this artist has a penchant for visuals that seem straight out of The Menu. Visually, there’s also a sense of storytelling that leaves no room for fluff—it’s perhaps darkly romantic in the same way that a Rick Owens dress would be: a layering of perception, colour, and reflection. One that makes it impossibly addictive. | Image from Idan Gilony via Instagram
