At the core of every project we undertake—and indeed a pillar of our philosophy—is a profound love for the land and a deep pride in our culture and heritage,” says Mohammad Alhouri, Co-Founder of MOD. This ethos is beautifully embodied in MOD’s most recent work: The Night of Dunes.
A luxurious henna-night design hosted at Adnce, Abu Dhabi, The Night of Dunes pays homage to the UAE, taking to heart the words of the late H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Rooted in a poetic reverence for the desert, the design celebrates the beauty of the land and its heritage. From dunes that slope elegantly beneath a golden sun and fade into soft rosy hues at dawn, to the harvesting of desert roses used in renowned Arabic perfume houses, the narrative unfolds through thoughtful detail. Lamps—evoking the gentle glow of lanterns once carried by Bedouin travellers—add to the ambience. Every detail is a love letter to the region and, most meaningfully, to the clients’ affection for the dunes.
Across MOD’s Instagram and digital platforms, The Night of Dunes is presented in curated visual chapters, each highlighting the project’s masterful attention to detail. The entrance and coffee counter feature hand-carved, mashrabiya-inspired detailing—introducing a familiar architectural language. Floral installations composed of fifteen exotic flower varieties were meticulously hand-assembled into a fantastical, cascading composition we call Ciel des Fleurs (Sky of Flowers), soaring six meters high. Elsewhere, the entrance abaya counter and all furnishings were custom-built, representing over 300 hours of dedicated craftsmanship for the entrance alone.
MOD has always been uncompromisingly clear in its signature aesthetic—aptly termed Contemporary Heritage. This design philosophy is evident across every project, whether through discreet symbolic gestures or intentional detailing that serves as a heartfelt ode to the Middle East. Each event is a world of its own—an unfolding story with rich chapters designed to draw viewers in and capture their hearts. For the brides who entrust these artistic journeys to MOD, memories of their most treasured day live on through visuals infused with depth, nuance, and meaning. “Meaning is what elevates the ordinary to the extraordinary—and at MOD, we strive to create stories that endure,” says Mohammad Alhouri.
As you explore the colour tones, textures, floral artistry, and intricate detailing of this unique henna night, it becomes impossible not to feel an overwhelming sense of pride. Too often, design narratives are overly derivative of European aesthetics; however, this project offers something far more authentic—a pure, unbridled love for the land and a poetic interpretation of heritage. The result is an unforgettable evening that lives on eternally, both in memory and in the heart. The Night of Dunes — The film can be viewed here.
